Mark Critch’s wonderfully wild and on-point humour has elevated CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes since 2013 and he remains a treasure there to this day, in Season 29. Critch has his own comedy series now! A sweet, hilarious and personal take on his teen years in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Son of a Critch, based on his comedy memoir Son of a Critch takes us to his humble highway-side family home – painstakingly reconstructed for the series – where we get to know his colourful family (Malcolm McDowall plays grandpa and Critch plays his own father!), his trials and tribulations at school, on the bus and in the playground and learn why he’s so darn funny. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Mark from St. John’s and his longtime Canadian co-writer and creator, Tim McAuliffe from Los Angeles. Laughs ahead!
Son of Critch premieres on Tuesday, January 4 at 8:30 pm (9 pm NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem.
