Andy Siara’s complex, time travelling mystery series The Resort is set in beautiful sunny Cancun where families have come for healing R and R. It’s anything but for two groups, linked by a catastrophe in 2007 that decisively changes the lifepath of a married couple vacationing there in 2022. All because of a flip phone. Siara says he once wanted to “make a big summer movie with mystery, detectives, adventure, comedy, tragedy, romance, a natural disaster, plus a dose of the surreal and existential”. It’s here., starring Cristin Milioti, William Jackson Harper and Nick Offerman. Siara’s deeply engrossing, carefully constructed eight-parter on Showcase will hook you hard. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with the creator.
The Resort launches on Showcase Sunday, Sept 11
