Filmmaker Chandler Levack looks to her early job as a Blockbuster clerk and to her hometown of Burlington as inspiration for her wonderfully witty and warm comedy I Like Movies. We follow Lawrence (Isaiah Lehtinen), a movie nut who prefers to watch films over just about everything else in life. He has an impressive and sophisticated film knowledge base but at a cost – he’s socially awkward and hasn’t learned to filter himself. He can’t pay his Blockbuster bill so he finagles a job there, under boss and crush Alana (Romina D’Ugo). It’s all fun ‘n’ games at first but complexity and emotional power come through. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Lehtinen, D’Ugo, and Levack.
I Like Movies premieres March 10 in Toronto (Bell Lightbox), Burlington, Hamilton, Vancouver and Montreal! Then March 11 in Winnipeg and throughout the spring in other Canadian cities
