Charlotte is a gorgeously rendered animated documentary on Charlotte Saloman. She was a young Jewish girl growing up in Berlin and studying art when Hitler’s Nazification program. Charlotte and her surviving family members escaped to the south of France where she painted all her memories of family, love, and life, the Holocaust, and the growing threat in occupied France. . Her collection Life? of Theatre? is considered the first-ever graphic novel. Canadian producer Julia Rosenberg’ had top-tier help from voice artists Keira Knightley, Marion Cotillard, Jim Broadbent, Brenda Blethyn, Sam Clafin, Henry Czerny, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan, the late Helen McCrory, Sophie Okonedo, and Raoul Bhaneja. Knightley, Cotillard and Canada’s Robert Lantos and Xavier Dolan produced and Tahir Rana and Éric Warin directed. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Rosenberg.
