Simu Liu is a Canadian actor, writer, athlete and star of Kim’s Convenience who Tweeted at Marvel in 2014 to create an Asian superhero, and then again in 2018 offering to play the lead in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Guess what? They cast him! The film opens this week and the excitement is palpable. Liu is travelling the globe promoting the actioner, representing the diaspora with the boldly Asian-led cast and all is new. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Liu, back in his hometown of Toronto and asked him how he’s handling the intense spotlight shining on him around the world.
